Lessons
Painting on traditional paper Washi is quite an experience! Master Toyokuni teaches sumi-e at all levels in English or Japanese during lessons of 90 minutes 🙂 Make a reservation and bring 8.000 yens per person. Notes for July, August & September 2015: His summer lessons only take place between 13:00 and 17:00 so we recommend you to reserve at least two weeks before your selected day.
As a special offer for foreigners only, the son Yuta teaches sumi-e to beginners in English or Japanese during lessons of 30 minutes. No reservation needed; just bring 1.000 yens per person. You typically draw a simple cat’s face to get used to the brush and black ink then see how to paint a Daruma, bamboo or landscape with mountains and rivers.
Note: Each lesson is limited to 5 students for practical reasons. Contact the Yes in Japan team to request special arrangements for bigger groups, professionals on business trip, French speakers… (early reservation recommended)
