New activity: Vegan sushi workshop in Tokyo city

Discover Japanese vegetables, make vegan sushi with experienced chefs then savour the healthy food you prepared during vegan sushi-making workshops organized in Tokyo city by the Yes In Japan team! Made in Japan: Denim furoshiki or bag from Fukuyama city by Alpha Planning?

The Japanese company Alpha Planning introduced its fine denim furoshiki (wrapping cloth) models, bags and more in Tokyo city during Ibara Denim Fair 2017 (ended on Monday), organized at the “antenna shop” Tottori Okayama Shimbashi-kan. Chatting about shopping with the CEO, Yes in Japan tour leader Sébastien Duval learnt that new designs are being considered to match diverse international tastes and fashions. On the photo, you may recognize designs by the famous ukiyo-e artist KITAGAWA Utamaro:

Made in Japan: New denim kimono from Ibara city by Aokihifuku

The Japanese company Aokihifuku presented its new denim kimonos (pure blue, white hemp pattern, brown & green camouflage…) for men & women in Tokyo city during Ibara Denim Fair 2017 (finished yesterday), hosted by Tottori Okayama Shimbashi-kan “antenna shop”. Discussing with the staff, our French manager noted 3 big advantages of denim kimono over traditional kimono: (1) cheaper, (2) significantly lower maintenance cost as you can wash a denim kimono in a washing machine, and (3) clothing easy to produce in big sizes. On the right side of the photo, the Japanese salesman wears a denim kimono great for everyday life:

As part of Ibara Denim Fair (24-27 February 2017), the cute Denchu-kun mascot character welcomes Japanese & foreign visitors at Tottori Okayama Shimbashi-kan “antenna shop” near Shimbashi station in Tokyo city… and foreign tourists particularly enjoy getting photographed with him :) Going this afternoon to see beautiful denim kimonos (blue or not), jackets, bags, etc. made in Japan, our inbound travel manager Sébastien Duval was very happy to see this yuru-chara inspired by kabuki Japanese theatre!

23 December 2016: Asakusa Tatsumiya re-open (kimono tumblers in Tokyo)

Temporarily closed, the shop Asakusa Tatsumiya specialized in kimono tumblers is moving closer to Asakusa subway station and will re-open just 10 seconds away from the famous Kaminari-mon red Thunder Gate on 23 December 2016! We will gladly accompany you afterwards during a shopping tour in Tokyo city, to buy a kimono tumbler at the new shop if you love unique, beautiful things useful in everyday life :)

11 December 2016: 44th Japan Cup Karate-do Championships (Tokyo)

Japanese men & women will fight or practice “kata” forms at the Nippon-budokan from 09:00 to 18:00 on 11 December 2016 during the 44th Japan Cup Karate-do Championships. This event is sponsored by Japan Karatedo Federation and a ticket costs only 2.000 yens (18 dollars)!

You can probably attend this event without us because the Nippon-budokan is easy to find (near Kudanshita subway station) and the tickets are sold on site but if you want us to accompany you there as part of a private 1-day tour in Tokyo city… let us know before Friday afternoon :)
